Supervision & Consultancy

Supervision provides a space in which to reflect, explore, develop, learn and integrate new knowledge and understanding. I see it is a space for sharing both challenges and success stories. There is a lot to be gained from sharing both our concerns and our joy in the work with an experienced practitioner who listens and enquires, affirms and supports our growing edge and our sense of self in the work.

I have been providing supervision to social workers, therapists, psychologists, art therapists and other allied health professionals who work in the therapeutic space for over 20 years. This includes government and non-government services that provide spaces for children, young people and adults such as out of-home care, foster care, case management, community health, family violence, local government, children's services and schools.

The supervision I provide is not managerial and would be an adjunct to arrangements you may already have in your workplace. I offer individual or small group opportunities, and have also consulted within teams to help with planning days and events that support the work. Supervision and consulting is available in person or via telehealth. Please reach out via email or telephone if you would like to know more or to book an appointment.

Testimonials for Anne Robertson

The Venny staff have been accessing supervision with Anne Robertson since 2016. Over the past 7 years Anne has been a crucial stabilising link during a period of significant external organisational threat and then dynamic growth for this grass roots not-for-profit. Her astute assessment of organisational structure dynamics, and her skill and knowledge of policy and procedures allows her to offer practical insight and positive steps forward.

Anne’s deep knowledge of trauma states frameworks and family system dynamics allows her to speak to the heart of issues activated, and with compassion and calmness offer support to individuals and the team. She then supports us to have the challenging conversation needed, or encourage openness and vulnerability, and develop deeper understanding and communication skills.

Her warmth, care, and ability to listen, has given us room to explore feelings and develop professional practice. Her ability to hold space, whilst also challenging assumptions and patterns of behaviour, or offering insight and new frameworks to lean in to, has allowed us to differentiate and untangle personal and professional issues. This has brought a sense of wholeness to how we work professionally and as a team. This work helps us to be the best versions of ourselves and to continue to develop our practice.

Her years of professional experience, coupled with her own lived experience, and qualifications mean Anne has a unique approach to offer individuals and groups in supervision. She is humane, compassionate, brings a sense of humour, hope and realism to the work. Her commitment to the value of supervision and her ability to hold the complexities and threads of individual and group dynamics is remarkable. We cherish her role in keeping our staff and organisation healthy and our professional practice at a growing edge.

Director | Play and Programs

  • Anne Robertson has done some really great work with me in one-on-one sessions but has also been able to hold some beautiful group sessions with work colleagues as well.
  • Anne listens to what issues are pressing for me in my work life and personal life and has helped me to separate them both but also connect some dots that has allowed me to realise things about my own behaviour.
  • Anne has also been able to ask me the tricky questions that can be crucial to understanding what is in my control and through this process start to create a way out or build skills to help manage the situation.
