Counselling & Supervision

About Me

I have a background in Counselling, Family Therapy and Social Work and I have worked in this field for many years. My career began with supporting young people at risk of homelessness and children and youth in state care. I found my passion for this work while working with young people to understand their needs and explore the impact of sexual and other forms of abuse, and their experience of the legal system. Along the way, I completed further studies in Counselling, Family Therapy and Social Work, along with additional training in EMDR and Clinical Supervision and I continue to support children, young people and adults who are affected by trauma, and to provide clinical supervision to other therapeutic practitioners.

My clinical work across diverse community settings (including Health & Welfare) and in my private practice has provided me with the skills and experience to work inclusively with adults, parents, young people and children of diverse race, culture, gender identity or sexuality and to understand the impact of intersecting life experiences such as trauma, family violence and other painful and difficult life events. I have also been fortunate to hold leadership roles that have given me the opportunity to provide clinical supervision that supports individuals and teams in their counselling practice.

I have a deep connection with nature, water and animals and I enjoy using creative mediums in counselling.

Counselling - Information and Services

I aim to make counselling affordable and accessible to those needing support in challenging times and circumstances. I see counselling as a healing process that taps into the multi-sensory elements of the human experience and that develops and strengthens through the co-creation of a safe therapeutic relationship.

Counselling might involve a short-term, medium-term or longer-term commitment to deeper work, depending on the challenges each individual, couple or family feel they need to overcome and the issues that bring them to counselling.

Some people see me because their daily lives and feelings of wellbeing are impacted by experiences of:

Trauma

Anxiety

Stress

Identity

Grief & Loss

Sexuality

Relationship & attachment challenges

Parenting & Impacts from Family of Origin

Family Violence

Interpersonal factors

Childhood trauma

Sessions can take place via telehealth or in person in Melbourne, I can also outreach to schools or other venues appropriate if required.
